Iran is considering the full text of a memorandum of understanding proposed by the United States despite recent blows to diplomacy between the two countries, the state-affiliated Mehr News reported Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The report said Tehran is seeking \u201creal benefit\u201d from any deal with the U.S, not just promises. Officials have reportedly lost trust in U.S. diplomats after a series of broken commitments and \u201chistorical mistrust.\u201d<\/p>\n

It added that Iranian officials are worried about signing any deal with the U.S. because Washington has \u201cspent heavily on the war and has achieved nothing.\u201d<\/p>\n

The comments follow news that Iran decided to suspend indirect talks with the U.S. over Israel\u2019s bombardment of Lebanon, which it says was included in April\u2019s ceasefire agreement.<\/p>\n

President Trump said Monday that he wasn\u2019t aware that talks had been paused, but after a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu later said that talks were progressing.<\/p>\n

\u201cTalks are continuing, at a rapid pace, with the Islamic Republic of Iran. Thank you for your attention to this matter!\u201d Mr. Trump posted on Truth Social.<\/p>\n

The U.S. and Israel began bombing Iran in late February, vowing to eliminate Tehran\u2019s nuclear program, dismantle its missile and drone structure and foster regime change.<\/p>\n

While Iran\u2019s traditional military capabilities remain damaged after nearly two months of attacks, Tehran has displayed resilience with its remaining missiles and drones.<\/p>\n

Additionally, Iran has maintained a blockade on the Strait of Hormuz, promising to strike any ship that attempts to traverse the waterway without paying a fee and registering with the Persian Gulf Strait Authority.<\/p>\n

At least 20% of the world\u2019s oil transits the strait each year, and its closure has boosted international energy prices and domestic gas prices in the U.S.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
