He was ordered to pay over $350,000 in forfeiture and pay a $10,000 fine.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cfull, complete, and unconditional pardon,\u201d dated Thursday and announced by the White House Friday, cited Mr. Buyer\u2019s service as a U.S. Army judge advocate general and his \u201cdistinguished and highly productive\u201d tenure in the House.<\/p>\n<p>It \u2060also said that Mr. Trump\u2019s pardon was based on the \u201cadvice and recommendation\u201d of 53 current and former members of Congress.<\/p>\n<p>An April 2025 letter, shared by Mr. Trump and signed by dozens of former congressional Republicans, said that Mr. Buyer was \u201ctargeted by the deep state\u201d because of his involvement as a House prosecutor at former President Bill Clinton\u2019s 1998 impeachment trial.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLike you, Mr. President, Steve has been the victim of lawfare conducted by the Biden Administration,\u201d they wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Five current House Republicans \u2014 Tom Cole of Oklahoma, Ken Calvert of California, Marlin Stutzman of Indiana, Jack Bergman of Michigan and Pete Sessions of Texas \u2014 wrote another letter that pardoning Mr. Buyer would bring justice.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/homebuyerrelocation.com\/?p=1360\">Mexican man who overstayed tourist visa for years sentenced in D.C. for dealing cocaine<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Mr. Buyer maintains his innocence, saying that it was \u201chorrific to be imprisoned for a crime that I did not commit,\u201d adding that the pardon \u201ccorrects a politically motivated prosecution.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He served in the House between 1993 and 2011 before working as a corporate consultant, and was found guilty in March of 2023.<\/p>\n<p>At his trial, prosecutors said that Mr. Buyer bought Sprint stock by using non-public information obtained through his consulting and lobbying work to make profitable trades.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors said that he attended a golf outing with a T-Mobile executive in 2018, learned about plans for T-Mobile\u2019s $26.5 billion merger with Sprint and began purchasing Sprint stock the very next day, making over $100,000.<\/p>\n<p>The following year, prosecutors said that Mr. Buyer traded ahead of a public announcement that his client, Guidehouse, was acquiring Navigant Consulting, generating roughly $227,000.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/homebuyerrelocation.com\/?p=1358\">Federal judge pauses Trump administration\u2019s SNAP restrictions<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>President Trump has pardoned former Rep.
