Vance tangled Tuesday with the hosts of the ABC daytime talk show \u201cThe View\u201d over the Trump administration\u2019s handling of the files of the late sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, saying federal officials are not hiding any documents.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/homebuyerrelocation.com\/?p=2144\">Early results put Lewis George in lead to win Democratic nomination for D.C. mayor<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are not holding anything back,\u201d Mr. Vance said during his appearance on the show.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Vance characterized himself as a \u201cconspiracy theorist\u201d about the Epstein files, saying he has been troubled by Epstein\u2019s connections to wealthy and powerful people. But he pushed back on the hosts\u2019 claims that the administration hasn\u2019t been fully transparent about releasing thousands of documents in the government\u2019s possession related to Epstein.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat I disagree with is the idea that the White House wasn\u2019t committed to full transparency,\u201d he said. \u201cI was inside the room when some of these decisions were made.\u201d<\/p>\n<div>\n<section>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<p>He also pushed back on the hosts\u2019 allegations that Mr. Trump was aware of Epstein\u2019s crimes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of the things you see in the Epstein emails is that Jeffrey Epstein emails is that Jeffrey Epstein hated Donald Trump and that Donald Trump literally reported Jeffrey Epstein to the police,\u201d he said. \u201cThat\u2019s one of the things that came out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The hosts said Mr. Trump only signed the law releasing the Epstein documents \u201cunder duress\u201d from other Republican lawmakers. They noted that he was friends with Epstein for about a decade.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Vance acknowledged that the two knew each other in the 1980s, but said Mr. Trump threw Epstein out of Mar-a-Lago for \u201cbeing a creep.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Co-host Anna Navarro said the president was pressured into releasing the Epstein documents.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRemember, he signed that transparency act under duress, from some Republican women like Congresswoman Lauren Boebert [of Colorado], like [former Rep.] Marjorie Taylor Greene,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Vance rejected her assertion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe idea that Donald Trump runs around afraid of Republican [lawmakers] as opposed to the other way around is kind of crazy,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/homebuyerrelocation.com\/?p=2142\">GOP picks Dallas for midterm convention, says Paxton<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The president promised during the 2024 campaign to release all the files. But in office, he later discouraged GOP lawmakers from passing such a bill, calling the move a Democratic \u201choax.\u201d He ended up signing the measure after the House passed it with overwhelming bipartisan support.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Vance ventured into what has been unfriendly daytime talk-show territory for Republicans to promote his new book, \u201cCommunion,\u201d which is about his Catholic faith.<\/p>\n<p>While the vice president walked out to overwhelming applause, the six female hosts wasted no time pressing him on a New York Times report that he led the push to release the Epstein files.<\/p>\n<p>The report also said Mr. Vance floated the idea that Epstein\u2019s partner, Ghislaine Maxwell, should be interviewed by Tucker Carlson as a PR gambit to dispel accusations that Mr. Trump was aware of or complicit in Epstein\u2019s crimes.<\/p>\n<p>No evidence has emerged tying Mr. Trump to Epstein\u2019s crimes, but Democrats have still pushed that narrative to weaken the president politically. Epstein died in an apparent suicide in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges, while Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year sentence on sex trafficking charges.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Vance copped to being \u201ca conspiracy theorist\u201d when it comes to the Epstein files, but said much of what was in The New York Times report was untrue.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am, frankly, kind of a conspiracy theorist on the Epstein stuff and [The Times\u2019] story says that,\u201d Mr. Vance said. \u201cThat\u2019s one of the things that\u2019s true, is that people called me a conspiracy theorist.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019s crazy that you had this guy who was clearly a sex predator who was hanging out with a lot of very wealthy and powerful people, like that really bothered me,\u201d Mr. Vance said, acknowledging that he didn\u2019t know \u201cwhat was there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Vance said the administration has released 6 million pages of documents and the remainder can\u2019t be released without a court order.
