{"id":2421,"date":"2026-06-20T16:06:09","date_gmt":"2026-06-20T16:06:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/homebuyerrelocation.com\/?p=2421"},"modified":"2026-06-20T16:06:09","modified_gmt":"2026-06-20T16:06:09","slug":"trump-says-reflecting-pool-was-vandalized","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/homebuyerrelocation.com\/?p=2421","title":{"rendered":"Trump says Reflecting Pool was \u2018vandalized\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>President Trump said that the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool was vandalized, comments that come on the heels of an algae bloom and peeling paint after the more than $14 million renovation.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/homebuyerrelocation.com\/?p=2419\">Congress poised to send major housing package to Trump\u2019s desk<\/a><\/p>\n<p>He said via Truth Social on Friday evening that \u201cwe\u2019ve had some real problems with Vandalism at the beautiful Reflecting Pool.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Trump referred to the numbers \u201c86 47\u201d being etched into the grass on the National Mall \u2014 a political phrase used as a protest slogan against Mr. Trump using slang that means to \u201cget rid of\u201d the 47th president of the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJust like three days ago, they destroyed the grass outside of the Pool, they\u2019ve also done everything possible to hurt the inside surface that was just installed,\u201d the president said. \u201cNo different than the chemicals that were used on the National Mall, they used something similar in the Reflecting Pool to try to destroy and demean our beautiful work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The blue coating at the bottom of the pool was seen peeling off and floating to the green-tinted, algae-ridden surface of the pool less than two weeks after the multimillion-dollar restoration was completed.<\/p>\n<p>Thin flaps of what appears to be either blue paint or sealant floating were seen bobbing on the pool\u2019s surface, which had been hit with an algae growth just days before.<\/p>\n<p>The National Park Service began combating the bloom by pouring in containers of 12% hydrogen peroxide, using nanobubble ozone technology and physically removing it.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Trump said that the algae is 75% gone, and \u201cthe condition will soon be completely remedied.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The president\u2019s project was meant to present visitors with \u201cAmerican flag blue\u201d water, has instead the historical pool has been plagued by algae growth, peeling material and, according to Mr. Trump, an unknown bad actor.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/homebuyerrelocation.com\/?p=2417\">Trump deepens the dustup with Italy\u2019s Meloni over a disputed photo from the G7 summit<\/a><\/p>\n<p>He added that the area that was vandalized is \u201cjust a small area of damage, and will be fixed early next week.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a shame that the Radical Left Lunatics, most likely Dumocats, who have spent their lives trying to ruin our Country, are free to do so,\u201d Mr. Trump added. \u201cLaw Enforcement is actively investigating this situation, and will hopefully have it resolved soon.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Images posted to social media showed National Guard and U.S. Park Police officers patrolling the area Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Independent journalist Emily Miller said Friday afternoon that someone had jumped into the pool and cut out a piece of the blue sealant before being arrested by police.<\/p>\n<p>Another video shared Friday by Ms. Miller showed a cyclist speaking with National Guard personnel on the outskirts of the pool and being handcuffed by park police officers.<\/p>\n<p>She claimed that the man was arrested for vandalizing the pool, having allegedly grabbed the hose that National Park Service workers were using to clear the algae.<\/p>\n<p>A follow-up post by Ms. Miller said that he was arrested for a traffic violation, and police asked the cyclist if he stops at red lights.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/homebuyerrelocation.com\/?p=2415\">Chris Van Hollen \u201ckicking the tires\u201d over 2028 presidential bid<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Washington Times has reached out to the U.S. Park Police for comment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>President Trump said that the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool was vandalized, comments that come on the heels of an algae bloom and peeling paint after the more than $14 million renovation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":2420,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[107,6],"tags":[14,1454],"class_list":["post-2421","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-local","category-news","tag-donald-trump","tag-lincoln-memorial-reflecting-pool"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.6 -
