We have \u2014 we used to have friends around the world. Now we don\u2019t have them anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Later in the segment, Ms. Behar doubled down, tying her embarrassment specifically to immigration policy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have to say that I\u2019m embarrassed for this country, the way he\u2019s been treating immigrants,\u201d she said. \u201cHe\u2019s been separating kids from their families.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Behar went on to invoke her own Italian-American heritage, saying her family immigrated from southern Italy roughly a century ago and that Italian Americans are among the most patriotic people in the country precisely because of what their ancestors found when they arrived.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd now he treats immigrants the way he treats them,\u201d she added. \u201cAnd, of course, Larry is embarrassed to be an American.
