{"id":3234,"date":"2026-07-02T04:11:38","date_gmt":"2026-07-02T04:11:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/homebuyerrelocation.com\/?p=3234"},"modified":"2026-07-02T04:11:38","modified_gmt":"2026-07-02T04:11:38","slug":"congress-backs-justice-dept-probe-into-alleged-financial-crimes-of-shanghai-based-businessman","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/homebuyerrelocation.com\/?p=3234","title":{"rendered":"Congress backs Justice Dept. probe into alleged financial crimes of Shanghai-based businessman"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>Congress is wading into a federal grand jury investigation into alleged financial crimes committed by China-based businessman Neville Roy Singham, a U.S. citizen, and his connections to left-wing activist groups.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/homebuyerrelocation.com\/?p=3232\">Judge blocks Virginia\u2019s anti-ICE law banning agents from wearing masks while on duty<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Department of Justice, authorized by acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, launched a federal grand jury probe into the tech tycoon to investigate alleged wire fraud, bank fraud and money laundering within his financial network.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors are examining the flow of hundreds of millions of dollars that Mr. Singham allegedly funneled from Shanghai into the U.S. through defunct shell corporations and a Goldman Sachs philanthropy fund.<\/p>\n<p>The funds were allegedly distributed to a constellation of nonprofits, media operations and activist groups, such as CodePink, co-founded by Mr. Singham\u2019s wife, and the Party for Socialism and Liberation, that lawmakers and critics accuse of pushing Chinese Communist Party propaganda and sectarian division.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNeville Singham is a traitor to our country. He has ties to the CCP,\u201d Sen. Jim Banks, Indiana Republican, told Fox News Digital. \u201cHe is an American citizen, but all of his loyalties lie with the Chinese Communist Party. And when you begin to untangle the web of his massive fortune and his philanthropic activities, the money that he sends to left-wing groups in America, and not just groups that espouse ideologies, but espouse violence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Singham has said that he does not work for the CCP, but numerous investigations have tied his funding to organizations that support the party.<\/p>\n<p>Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent previously traveled to New York City for a meeting with Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon, who reportedly received a warning from Mr. Bessent that his bank could face scrutiny for alleged conspiracy by funneling Mr. Singham\u2019s money.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Solomon reportedly agreed to cooperate with the Justice Department\u2019s probe.<\/p>\n<p>A Goldman Sachs spokesperson said \u201call distributions from Mr. Singham\u2019s donor-advised fund were made to legal nonprofits, as determined by the IRS. There have been no distributions from the account since August 2023, and it was closed in early 2024.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As a member of the Senate Banking Committee, Mr. Banks said Goldman Sachs\u2019 cooperation is good news, adding, \u201cIt sounds like Goldman wants to put this to bed. They want to do their part to help the investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut Wall Street should know that you can\u2019t get away with helping our biggest enemy. GOP Reps. Brett Guthrie of Kentucky, John Joyce of Pennsylvania and Bob Latta of Ohio requested information last month on how the Trump administration is investigating and preventing foreign influence campaigns working to combat U.S. artificial intelligence progress and block its infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>They cited investigations from the Bitcoin Policy Institute and Power the Future that detail CCP-linked networks funded by Mr. Singham.<\/p>\n<p>He is funneling millions of dollars to the Party for Socialism and Liberation, according to a report by the Bitcoin Policy Institute made public Tuesday \u2014 the second in a series on Chinese influence against data centers.<\/p>\n<p>The report said China is fomenting public unrest in the U.S. against the building of artificial intelligence and the data centers fueling the technology. Besides protests about the huge data centers using large amounts of electricity and water, the report said, \u201crunning parallel to this domestic, democratic movement is a foreign influence campaign that has worked to amplify public division and opposition to American AI infrastructure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And House Ways and Means Committee Chair Rep. Jason Smith kicked off an investigation into the Singham nonprofit network last year and said, \u201cIt\u2019s about time he is brought to justice, and he is held accountable for his ties to the CCP.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor years, Roy Singham has abused the generous tax status awarded to tax exempt organizations to fund left wing chaos and violence in our country,\u201d the Missouri Republican said on social media Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Pat Fallon, who is running for chairman of the House Oversight Committee, has committed to holding CCP-aligned nonprofits tied to Mr. Singham accountable.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFar-left NGOs are the means by which U.S. adversaries like communist China work to undermine our country,\u201d the Texas Republican told Fox News Digital. \u201cGroups like CodePink, which Singham has funded, openly spew CCP propaganda.
