{"id":4079,"date":"2026-07-13T18:08:44","date_gmt":"2026-07-13T18:08:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/homebuyerrelocation.com\/?p=4079"},"modified":"2026-07-13T18:08:44","modified_gmt":"2026-07-13T18:08:44","slug":"judge-slams-trump-doj-for-deceptive-behavior-in-irs-lawsuit-weaponization-fund-deal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/homebuyerrelocation.com\/?p=4079","title":{"rendered":"Judge slams Trump, DOJ for deceptive behavior in IRS lawsuit, weaponization fund deal"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>A federal judge in Florida flayed President Trump and the Department of Justice on Monday over their handling of his lawsuit against the IRS, saying they tried to pull a fast one and abused the court in an attempt to create the anti-weaponization fund.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/homebuyerrelocation.com\/?p=4077\">Man with firearm arrested outside of U.S. Capitol<\/a><\/p>\n<p>U.S. District Judge Kathleen Williams said the settlement is null, and she barred Mr. Trump from citing it as any legal authority for future actions.<\/p>\n<p>Judge Williams, an Obama appointee, also referred one of Mr. Trump\u2019s lawyers to the Florida Bar for an investigation and barred another from attempting to file briefs in the federal court in southern Florida.<\/p>\n<p>She said the case was part of a pattern on the part of Mr. Trump of \u201cmisusing the courts to serve political purposes.\u201d<\/p>\n<div>\n<section>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cThe court finds that this matter was brought for an improper purpose \u2014 to gain the imprimatur of judicial legitimacy for a \u2018settlement\u2019 that had no viable basis in law or fact,\u201d Judge Williams wrote.<\/p>\n<p>The action came in regards to a $10 billion lawsuit Mr. Trump filed against the IRS after a contract employee leaked his secret tax information to The New York Times during his first term.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/homebuyerrelocation.com\/?p=4076\">Trump wants Lindsey Graham\u2019s sister to replace him in the U.S. Senate<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche agreed to a settlement with Mr. Trump that called for the president to drop the lawsuit in exchange for the Justice Department creating a $1.776 billion \u201canti-weaponization\u201d fund that was to pay \u201cvictims\u201d of the Biden administration\u2019s DOJ.<\/p>\n<p>The defendants in the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol were seen as the likeliest candidates for payouts.<\/p>\n<p>The fund drew broad denunciations, including from Republicans on Capitol Hill, and Mr. Blanche scrapped the idea.<\/p>\n<p>Some Trump opponents also rushed to Judge Williams to ask her to officially nullify the agreement.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/homebuyerrelocation.com\/?p=4074\">Sen.
