Pop star Katy Perry said she was \u201cdeeply appalled and angry\u201d after the White House\u2019s TikTok account paired her 2010 hit \u201cFirework\u201d with footage of U.S. military strikes on Iran, becoming the latest in a growing list of pop musicians to publicly object to the administration\u2019s use of their music in social media posts.<\/p>\n

The official White House TikTok posted the clip Thursday, timing the song\u2019s \u201cboom, boom, boom\u201d lyric to video of missiles striking targets in Iran. The caption read, \u201cIran has been warned,\u201d alongside a fireworks emoji.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ms. Perry, who has endorsed the Democratic presidential nominee in each of the last three elections, responded Saturday on X.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am deeply appalled and angry to see \u2018Firework\u2019 used on the @WhiteHouse TikTok account as a backing track for video footage of military strikes,\u201d Ms. Perry said. \u201cI did not approve this, I was not asked, and I absolutely do not condone it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ariana Grande objected in June after the administration used her song \u201cBye\u201d in a video promoting ICE arrests, and Sabrina Carpenter did the same in December after her track \u201cJuno\u201d soundtracked a similar clip. Olivia Rodrigo, whose song \u201cAll-American Bitch\u201d appeared in a self-deportation video last November, later told Dazed magazine she felt \u201cenraged\u201d when she saw it.<\/p>\n
