Mr. Puckett was booked without bond into the Surry County Detention Center in Dobson, North Carolina.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Puckett was named as the lone suspect in Friday night\u2019s deadly shooting of Carroll County Sheriff\u2019s Deputy Logan Utt.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/homebuyerrelocation.com\/?p=994\">Leftists bemoan protests going viral online but failing to achieve real-world political wins<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The sheriff\u2019s office said Deputy Utt and another deputy were called to a home in Cana, Virginia, at about 9:25 p.m. Friday after Mr. Puckett\u2019s family requested a welfare check.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities said Mr. Puckett opened fire on law enforcement once police made contact with him and the officers fired back.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy Utt died at the scene, while the other deputy was hit in his protective vest and taken to a hospital, police said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday, Carroll County has lost a hero, and a family has suffered an unimaginable loss,\u201d Sheriff Kevin A.
