A man convicted on eight counts related to a cargo theft conspiracy received a sentence of almost eight years in prison.

Salahudin Reddy, 39, was sentenced on Thursday to 94 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania said in a release on Thursday.
Reddy pleaded guilty in March to four counts of theft from an interstate shipment and to one count each of possession of items stolen from interstate shipments, theft of government money, possession of stolen government money and conspiracy, federal prosecutors said.
From January through July 2023, Reddy and others used tools, including bolt cutters, to break into tractor-trailers around Philadelphia. Reddy and the co-defendants, who were not named in the U.S. attorney’s office release, then sold the goods.

Federal prosecutors said Reddy admitted to participating in:
- theft of crab legs worth hundreds of thousands of dollars on April 4 and 6, 2023.
- the April 10, 2023, theft of Samsung TVs worth over $360,000.
- the theft of over $230,000 in dimes on April 13, 2023.
The stolen dimes were minted in the city and were due to be transported to Florida prior to the theft.
All together, Reddy and the co-defendants stole items and goods worth over $1.5 million from over 10 victims, the U.S. attorney’s office said.
