OPINION:
The Democratic Party’s alarming and dramatic charge into the political abyss, which began with the 2025 election of socialist Zohran Mamdani as New York City mayor, is spiraling straight toward communism before our eyes.

In recent years, unabashed socialist Trump haters in states such as New York, Maine, Washington, California, Colorado and elsewhere have won primary and general elections with far more regularity, and commonsense Americans are paying close attention to the ongoing train wreck.
The dam is breaking on the left. Mainstream liberalism and traditional Democratic candidates appear to be going the way of the dodo, posing an enormous problem for House and Senate Democrats trying to win control of Congress in the rapidly approaching 2026 midterm elections.
Even though Graham Platner, former Democratic flavor of the month and Senate nominee in Maine, was forced to drop out of the race after a rape allegation was made, he is still the face of the warped movement that has taken hold on the radical left.
The audacious lack of judgment on display by so many of the Democrats who had proudly rallied around and defended Mr. Platner — despite the Nazi tattoo and a laundry list of disqualifying accusations — should tell voters from across the political spectrum all they need to know about the sick mental state of today’s collapsing Democratic Party.
The Democratic establishment and liberal power brokers in Washington are quickly losing control of their voters and activists. They appear powerless to do anything about it and have only themselves to blame.
Wide swaths of the American people no longer view the Democratic Party as a viable vehicle to make their lives better.
It is not difficult to see why. First and foremost, congressional Democrats cannot answer the central, all-important question for 2026. When asked to point out a socialist success story in world history, no one seems to be able to come up with an example, because there is none.
Americans understand that socialism is like the devil: It tempts you with dreams of “free” this and “free” that and then ultimately crushes your soul along with your future economic well-being.
The truth is that Democrats are fresh out of innovative ideas, so their natural safe space is to retreat to their true ideological position: more government control and dependency and less law and order, prosperity and liberty and open borders.
The problem for Democrats is that they will not be able to sneak their socialism screwiness past the American people. Voters rejected much of the stale agenda in the historic 2024 presidential election in which President Trump was reelected in a political comeback for the ages.

No one will ever forget the horrible years of President Biden that saddled hardworking taxpayers with an illegal immigrant invasion, trillions of dollars wasted on climate change extremism, suffocating inflation, boys playing in girls’ sports, un-American diversity, equity and inclusion programs, and soft-on-crime policies that gave dangerous criminals the advantage in our communities.
Make no mistake about it: Democrats have learned nothing from the failed Biden-Harris socialist experiment. Their platform for 2026 is all this and a whole lot more.
Today’s crop of crazed Democrats also has plans to force more government shutdowns, pack the U.S. Supreme Court, grant statehood to the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, defund U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and conduct nonstop impeachment hoaxes that everyone now knows are a complete waste of time.
At this moment, no crazy communist or otherwise counterproductive idea is off the table. That prospect should give everyone nightmares.
Here is the bottom line: Voting for a Democratic candidate for House or Senate and giving Democrats control of one or both chambers of Congress will not make families better off. Voting for a divided government at a time when one of the parties is under the spell of deep-pocketed anti-American socialists is never a good idea.
The gridlock on Capitol Hill would become unimaginable; dead-end impeachment investigations would be the No. 1 priority; border security would be fought tooth and nail; and our heroic police would be put back on the defensive.
Americans head to the polls in less than four months, and we must all think long and hard about what we want from government over the next two years.
Mr. Trump and congressional Republicans are offering low taxes, strong borders, unmatched national defense, election integrity and safe neighborhoods. Trump-deranged Democrats, on the other hand, who hate the president more than they love our country, are offering chaos, lawlessness and dysfunction — no more, no less.
It has become absolutely imperative for us to starve the scourge of socialism in our country of any more oxygen right here and now.
