Mr. Trump began the morning inspecting Lafayette Square, a 7-acre park directly across from the White House.
In May 2025, Mr. Trump signed an executive order aimed at beautifying the park, including restoring the fountains, upgrading infrastructure and increasing the number of trees in the park to 47 because he is the 47th president of the United States.
“President Trump walked through Lafayette Park today to personally check on the restoration progress, one of the many D.C. landmarks being made beautiful again under his Executive Order signed nearly one year ago,” a White House official said.
The president then traveled to the East Potomac Golf Course in the nation’s capital, where he was spotted reviewing blueprints with Interior Secretary Doug Burgum.

Mr. Trump has sought to reconstruct East Potomac Park, including the East Potomac Golf Course, a roughly 130-year-old park created by Congress in 1897 for the “recreation and pleasure of the people.” The golf course opened in 1919.
Lafayette Park and East Potomac Park are the flurry of expensive renovation projects Mr. Trump has undertaken.
He demolished the White House’s East Wing to make way for a massive ballroom, restoring the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, restoring fountains throughout the city and unveiled plans for a 250-foot triumphal arch south of the Potomac River near Arlington National Cemetery.
